I am a middle-aged woman and I don't think lifting weights is appropriate for me particularly because I have a metal brace in my arm which was fractured a long time ago. But for my morning exercise, I do stretchings and bendings plus the hand grip. I use the hand grip while lying face up on the bed. That puts the pressure on my tummy when I press the hand grip thereby giving strength to my abs. But I have to do the pressing for 50 times or more to be effective because I already have a bulging tummy.
