I lost a lot of weight during the football season, and now i cant lift as much in the weight room? Any suggestions on what to do?

So, over the football season, I have lost almost 40 pounds. This is from mostly not eating all the sugar that i used to, and I just generally dont eat as much as I did before I lost all the weight. But, it seems like when I go into the weight room, I can't lift as much. I dont go in there as often because of practice, but it should affect my lifting too much. I do pushups and squats at home to work on that stuff, but it doesnt look like its helping. Maybe i lost a lot of muscle along with all the fat...Any suggestions on whats happening, or what i can do?
