How much does sleep affect cardio performance during aerobic exercise?

I work out everyday except the weekend and its usually a mix of short cardio exercise and lifting weights and i have been doing so for about a year now. Recently I could not sleep the day before one of my workouts and when i tried to do the short cardio i felt queezy and overly tired which hasnt happened to me in a long time. So would lack of sleep have caused this or could it be anything else.
