Alcohol is proven to halt protein synthesis. Therfore, when your body should be burning fat, it instead has to spend all its time getting rid of the alcohol in your system before it can go back to burning fat. Until alcohol leaves a persons body, the body cannot burn fat. So if a person is going to the gym all the time and trying to burn fat, while build muscle, they are not getting nowhere near the results a person would be if they were not drinking alcohol. Thoughts?
