I feel lost without my cell phone. I was just thinking about this other day when my phone decided to stop working and I had to wait a couple of days for a new one. I'm just scared that I might miss a call from my daughters school or if the car breaks down. I don't use my phone for music, games and files like most people do. I do all of that on my desk top pc. I might start using it for music when I start to go walking again.
I have a secular job but I don't have a cellphone. Its been 2 years since the last time I got interested to getting my hands on a phone. I did have a phone for 1month until my sister left it somewhere 6months ago. My brand new phone was probably stolen and since then I had no intention replacing it with a new one.
There was a time when cellphone is more of a luxury rather than a necessity. It's more for the doctors who are always on call. Or so i thought. Surprisingly, it has become a necessity! And I agree with you in saying that most people would turn around to pick up a forgotten phone. It happened me lots of times! I don't want to think that I can't live without it but yeah, I guess, I have become too dependent on it. I feel like it's my connection to the world. I know it is not how it should be but sadly, that is how it has gotten to me.
I have a cellphone too but I rarely have a balance on it. I rely so much on an online messaging system that can freely send messages to cellphones here in my country. Actually, I am not obsessed with cellphones and in fact the model I am using right now was bought way back in 2006. I can live without a cellphone that is for sure.

i have a cell phone, but do not use it a lot. Hubby calls me on it on his way home to see if we need anything. I did use it a lot a couple of years ago when my mom was very ill. It was the easiest way to keep in touch with family. When my mom passed, my usage dropped. It is basically for emergencies for me and my husband. I would rather talk on my house phone.
Literally speaking, I can say I can live without any cellphone, BUT, (there's a big but there, hehe) in the world we're In nowadays, one can't function well if you don't have cellphone MOST especially if you're in a corporate world. Communication is important, and basically it's through your personal mobile phones. People who exaggerates so much that they can't live without cellphones are like machines who depends so much on it which I deem is not good.
As much as possible we have to make things easy, that's why we have mobile phones, but we need not to rely onto it much cause in the end, it's still a machine, it will be broken, it may be gone but you yourself, as a person will continue to exist, so, act as a person, not someone who is controlled by a gadget.
