What are good healthy ways to loose weight?

I'm 15 a 5'3" girl who ways 182-185 pounds. I've been overweight most of my life, and I think it's time for a change, especially since the new year has come around. My first thought was cutting out all sugar and bread. But I'm a little concerned this won't help me loose very much weight. I'm looking for ANY sort of advice, that's why this question is so short.
