They're called man's best friend.

And even if they drive us crazy sometimes, there's no better feeling than being greeted by your tail-wagging dog.

Today is National Dog Day and we're hoping to celebrate on MLive by sharing your best photo with your pooch.

To the rightis a photo of my wife Erin and our mini goldendoodle Percy, who just turned 6 months. He's quite the energetic puppy.

We want to see a photo of you and your dog! Send your best shot using thesubmission tool below and we'll do our best to include them in our gallery above.

Make sure to include your name, where you live and the name and breed of your dog.

National Dog Day started 11 years ago as a way to raise awareness about rescuing dogs and to acknowledge family dogs and dogs that work selflessly each day to save lives.

According to National Dog Day organizers, there are a number of ways to celebrate, with adopting a dog at a local shelter as the top option. Other ways to celebrate include having a dog day party by inviting your friends and their dogs over to your house or a dog park, donating blankets, food and toys to animal welfare organizations or buying your dog a new collar.
