Does the effect come from vinegar alone? Or are there similar effects from other sour things? Things like sour plum, sour grapes and sour faces.
I am right now using apple cider vinegar and I actually like it though I am not using it to lose weight. Whether it can help me lose some weight, I don't actually care. I hear that it can somehow help people dealing with diabetes. I said somehow because there is no single answer on diabetes. I am just concerned whether it can lead me to have an acidic stomach...

My cousin and i have tried the Apple cider vinegar for weight loss. Most people have heard that it works, but do not know how to actually use it. You should take ACV* first thing in the morning and on an empty stomach. Our timing is usually two hours before breakfast, You mix 2 parts ACV and 1 part water. The bigger the tumbler the better. If you go to school or work, you might want to wake up two hours before your usual time, take the solution, then go back to bed. By the time you are ready for breakfast, the ACV is already absorbed into your system. We also take a lot water filled fruits for breakfast, like watermelons and cucumbers. If we must take tea, then it is green tea (I shall post a thread on green tea for weight loss) I am not sure exactly how ACV works, but we have both managed to loose about 5 kgs / 11 pounds in 1 Month! and this is good enough for me. As mentioned above, if under medication you might want to talk to your doc. first. Try it and let me know how it works for you.

I've never actually heard of vinegar being the one responsible for burning down fat - from what I know from research, vinegar (specifically apple cider vinegar) gives you this really "full" feeling, making your next meal intake less, hopefully.
