I'm not fat at all, but my stomach pokes out a good bit. I really want to get rid of this belly fat because I hate how it look in certain shirts. I always suck my stomach in when I'm wear small shirt now because of this. I was 195lbs two months ago and now I'm 168lbs. I lost a lot of weight but my stomach is still big. Can someone give me a list of exercises to help me flatten my stomach please.

Do you drink alcoholic beverages? That can be one cause of having a belly fat.
It is always said here that it is hard to target certain part where we would like to lose weight. It should be lose of weight overall and doing cardio exercises is great to lose weight. Maybe try doing sit ups and crunches to focus more on the stomach part/muscles.

no I don't drink alcoholic but I do drink sodas. I doubt that have anything to do with it because my brother do the same and he has a sixpack. I don't workout though lol so that might be the reason.

Jacobe, drinking so many sodas definitely *can* have an effect. It's possible that some of the "pooch" you're seeing is simply bloating. Yes, others can do the same thing and have different results, but that doesn't mean it makes it okay for your own body. Try cutting out soda for a little while, minimize sodium, and drink more water. You may be surprised to see that even just something as simple as that might decrease some of the bloat.

True to what Jessi said...although I wouldn't think your stomach to be from bloating as much as from the sugars found in pop that your stomach is storing because your body has no use for them in the form of energy. Are you utilizing any current fitness plan or specific nutritional guidelines? Fat burns evenly throughout your body for the most part and the stomach is typically one of the final places to lose fat. Keep at it, cut out all your sugars, and lower your carb intake as well as your overall daily caloric intake. Let us know if we can assist you with your current workout plan or diet plan...

You could start doing exercises that work your core. For example, exercises that require balance. Sometimes i will do curls while standing on one leg, as this causes my ab muscles to work. In addition, start eating more apples to burn belly fat.

Core work will build your abdominal muscles, but it won't necessarily make you shed fat in the abdominal area...your diet is everything for that. Doing cardio on an empty stomach will help burn fat stores and then eating the correct macronutrient spreads at the correct time will play an even larger role. Word to the wise though...apples are a great substitute for a sugary food, but they aren't what is helping you burn stomach fat. sugar is sugar is sugar, and an apple has plenty of it. If you ate nothing but protein, fiber, and your daily vitamins, you would see that six pack a lot quicker than if you ate a bunch of apples.

Wow congratulations on all the weight you lost. You are dedicated. Try to switch to water for about a month and see if that will help. I would say the sit-ups and crunches are definitely what you need to build stomach muscle. Congrat's again on all your weight loss. Well done.

Definitely. Water substituted for regular pop will cut out a tremendous amount of sugar and help another 10 pounds of fat loss to occur very quickly. All of that stored energy from pop is doing nothing but contributing to the stomach fat and without it, the fat in the stomach will probably shrink at an accelerated rate. I agree on the congrats...that is a huge accomplishment to lose that amount of weight.

The abdominal and hip area is the last place to lose fat for most women. You may not be "Fat", but if you used to be overweight I'd be willing to bet you lost fat in other areas and not so much there. You'll need to lower your body fat further to get rid of the belly. Do this through diet and intense cardio. If you're interested in a quality diet, do a search for "carb shock diet". It's the most effective I've found and I've outlined it in detail elsewhere.

The only thing you can do is lose more fat through diet and intense cardio (running, elliptical, etc). There are no exercises you can do to flatten it - only by losing more body fat will the size gradually decrease. As I think Derek said above, you can not spot reduce fatty areas with targeted exercises. Even if you build up the muscle in your abs, you'll never be able to see it through the layer of fat until you lose it. And cardio means sweat your butt off, gasping for air RUNNING. Not walking or other nonsense like that.......

You could also have loose skin causing the unsightly area there - caused by the skin being stretched from being previously overweight. If this is the case, it will tighten up to a certain extent over time, but depending on how far it was stretched, it may never recover. The only option then is surgery, which I do not recommend except in extreme cases.
